Carnival Conquest 2013--Day 2 Food Choices

As I look back at the folders of my pictures, it appears that I completely forgot to take a picture of any menus from Day Two!  My apologies!

I did get a ham and cheese omelet and a piece of toast for breakfast.  By the looks of the omelet, it was pretty good!

I had what many would refer to as Fish and Chips for lunch (otherwise known as fish and French fries), and my husband had tomato soup (of which I am NOT a fan!).

Day Two was also Elegant Night, so the dinner choices were a little elevated.

Carnival Conquest 2013--Days at Sea

There were three days at sea on this seven-day cruise, and we spent them doing different activities around the ship.  

We went to a game show on the first afternoon where my husband got on stage and had a great time!

On our second Sea Day, we watched the Ice Carving Demonstration on the Lido Deck, chilled out on the deck, and my husband checked out the water slide

Our third Sea Day, I think we really spent recovering from three port days in a row!  LOL!  We did the Behind the Fun tour (which stopped for a while after COVID but is now back), enjoyed the sunset from our balcony, and were able to see oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico as we got closer to the mouth of the Mississippi.

We really enjoyed being able to relax on the Sea Days, and we loved having a balcony cabin!

Carnival Conquest 2013--Embarkation Day dinner

We ate in the dining room for Embarkation Day dinner (I believe we were in the Renoir Dining Room.) and enjoyed the food and service!  If you are familiar with Carnival Cruise Lines, you will notice that this was when there were still white tablecloths every night and menus handed to you for you to peruse and select from. 

Here were our selections:

Chilled Shrimp Cocktail

Broiled Fillet of Atlantic Salmon, Baked Potato, Steamed Vegetables

Tender Braised Beef Brisket in Gravy, Roasted Vegetables, Baked Potato

I apparently, though, did not take a picture of the dessert menu, but I believe the dessert I chose was a type of Black Forest Cake.

Embarkation Day dinner did not disappoint!

Carnival Conquest--June 16, 2013--Embarkation Day

Our first cruise together aboard the Carnival Conquest left from New Orleans, Louisiana and ported in Montego Bay, Jamaica; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico.  As I mentioned in my pre-cruise post found here, this was my third cruise on Carnival (second on the Conquest) but my husband's first.

We LOVED the Conquest!  Embarkation Day was so exciting!  We chose a balcony cabin, because we love the extra fresh air.

I had been on a few cruises before, but this was my husband's first cruise.  We were on a bit of a budget for this cruise, but we were still determined to make the best of it!  We went up to the Lido Deck and got lunch, then we walked around a bit and checked out the ship.

Just a note--this cruise was before Guy's Burgers was a staple on Carnival cruise ships!  At some point in the afternoon, it was time for the Muster Drill.  Again, this was still the OLD muster drill!  YUCK!

Once muster was over (THANK GOODNESS!!!), it was time to start the journey down the Mississippi River!  This is our favorite part of leaving on a cruise out of New Orleans!  We love seeing all the neat things along the riverbank, and (for those of you who aren't aware) it takes approximately eight hours to get to the mouth of the Mississippi and into the Gulf of Mexico.

It rained some as we were traveling down the river, and we saw the most beautiful rainbow stretching all the way across the river!

We had dinner in the dining room, which I'll save for a separate post, then we went to the evening show (just okay for us).  Once we got back to our cabin for the night, our cabin steward had turned down our bed, the Fun Times for the day along with two chocolates were on the bed (I miss the chocolates!), and we had our first towel animal!

We were excited after our first day aboard the ship and couldn't wait for Day Two!
